College Football: Big East Title, Bowl Bid At Stake As Cards Visit Rutgers

The University of Louisville football team will play this week for a share of the Big East Conference championship and a likely berth in a top-tier bowl.

The Cards travel to Rutgers Thursday for a nationally televised game.

U of L has lost two straight games after a 9-0 start, but coach Charlie Strong says his players have not lost confidence as they prepare for their regular season finale.

College Football: Cards Fall to UConn in Triple Overtime; UK, IU Lose Season Finales

The Louisville Cards suffered their second straight loss, dropping their home finale 23-20 to Connecticut today in triple overtime.

The Huskies held U of L scoreless for most of the game, but the Cards were able to send it into overtime with a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter.

UConn won it with a field goal in the third overtime after intercepting a Teddy Bridgewater pass.

College Football: Cards Need Win to Keep Conference Title Hopes Alive

The University of Louisville football team plays its home finale tomorrow against Connecticut.

Coach Charlie Strong’s Cardinals need a victory over the 4-6 Huskies to keep their Big East Conference title hopes alive going into their last regular season game at league-leading Rutgers.

"It’s not what anyone is going to do to us, it’s what we’re going to do ourselves. What’s key for us is just our effort, our preparation heading into these next two games and just making sure that we are mentally and physically locked in," Strong said this week.

UK, Phillips Preparing for Final Football Game of Season

The 2012 football season has not gone as planned for both the University of Kentucky and University of Tennessee. Both will end the season with losing records and fired coaches. But pride is still on the line as the Wildcats and Vols prepare to square off on Saturday.

UK junior linebacker Avery Williamson says players have tried to avoid the rumor mill about who could succeed Joker Phillips as head coach next year, but Williamson says a win on Saturday would be a big boost going into next season.

College Football: UK Wins Home Finale

In college football, the Kentucky Wildcats defeated Samford 34-3 Saturday night in their final home game of the season.

It was just the Wildcats’ second victory and their first win since September 8. UK finishes the season next Saturday at Tennessee. It was also the final home game for head coach Joker Phillips, who’s being replaced after this season.

The Indiana Hoosiers lost at Penn State 45-22. IU, now 4-7, finishes its season next Saturday at Purdue.
