College Football: Central Florida Hopes to Spoil Cards' Party

The University of Louisville football team returns to action tomorrow night, hosting Central Florida in U of L’s second straight nationally televised contest.

This will be the Cards’ 100th game at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, and the Knights could be the toughest opponent of the season for coach Charlie Strong’s team.

"They’re a team that doesn’t beat themselves," Strong said this week.

College Football: Rebuilding UK Wildcats Hope to Stem Crimson Tide

The Kentucky Wildcats host the nation’s top-ranked team Saturday night, as the Alabama Crimson Tide come to Commonwealth Stadium

UK has a three-game losing streak but is coming off a better-than-expected performance last weekend at South Carolina.

First-year coach Mark Stoops says his team will have to play with more consistency to challenge the undefeated Tide.

College Football: U of L Survives Rutgers, 24-10

Led by a strong defensive effort, the Louisville Cardinals posted a 24-10 victory over Rutgers Thursday night at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

The eighth-ranked Cardinals had four total interceptions and sacked quarterback Gary Nova eight times.

The Cardinals needed a stepped-up defensive performance to offset quarterback Teddy Bridgewater's off night. The junior completed 21 of 31 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw an interception and fumbled early in the fourth quarter.

College Football: U of L Hosts Rutgers in Rivalry Finale

The 8th-ranked Louisville Cardinals take on Rutgers tonight at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.  

Both programs will move to separate conferences next season, but before their rivalry comes to an end, the schools will square off in their lone meeting as American Athletic Conference members.

Coach Charlie Strong’s Cardinals are undefeated in five games heading into the contest, which will be televised nationally by ESPN.

College Football: Cards Visit Temple; UK at South Carolina; IU Hosts Penn State

In college football, the Louisville Cardinals return to action after a week off.  Number seven U of L opens conference play against the Temple Owls in Philadelphia Saturday,  with kickoff set for noon.

The Kentucky Wildcats are trying to get back on the winning track after two straight losses, but they’ll have their work cut out for them tomorrow night at South Carolina.

South Carolina is 3-1 on the season.   Coach Steve Spurrier’s team is ranked 12th in this week’s coaches’ poll.   UK is 1-2 and coming off losses to Louisville and Florida.

College Football: Florida Makes It 27 Straight Over Kentucky, 24-7

Number 20 Florida beat Kentucky 24-7 Saturday in Lexington, its 27th straight college football win over UK.

The Gators outgained the Wildcats 402 to 173 in yardage to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Kentucky’s only score came on a 25 yard run during a fake field goal attempt in the first quarter. UK drops to 1-3 on the season.

The Wildcats visit South Carolina next Saturday.

The Louisville Cards and Indiana Hoosiers had the weekend off.

College Football: Rebuilding Wildcats Hoping to Snap 26-Game Losing Streak to Gators

The University of Kentucky football team will try to end a long losing streak to Florida when the Wildcats take on the Gators tomorrow in Lexington.

Kentucky’s last win over Florida was in November of 1986, a 10-3 victory at Commonwealth Stadium.

Last season, the Gators beat the Wildcats for the 26th straight time, a 38-0 drubbing in Gainesville.

First-year UK coach Mark Stoops says his players can use the streak as motivation if they want, but shouldn’t let it become a distraction.

Cards Crush Florida International 72-0

Teddy Bridgewater threw four touchdown passes and Louisville's defense allowed a school-record 30 yards, helping the Cardinals blow out Florida International 72-0 on Saturday.

It was the highest scoring game for the Cardinals (4-0) since a 73-10 victory over Murray State in 2007. It also matched the school's fourth-largest margin of victory.

College Football: Undefeated Cards Host Florida International

The Louisville Cards return to action this weekend, hosting Florida International in their final non-conference game of the season. 

U of L is ranked sixth in this week’s  national coaches’ poll and is heavily favored over the Panthers, who beat the Cards two years ago but have struggled to an 0-3 record this season.

Cards coach Charlie Strong says he likes his team’s maturity, which was evident when the Cards got off to a shaky start last weekend against Kentucky.

Cardinals, Wildcats to Battle for Governor's Cup, Football Bragging Rights

In college football, the annual battle for the Governor’s Cup moves to Lexington as the Louisville Cardinals take on the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday.

U of L is 2-0, with victories over Ohio University and Eastern Kentucky, and is ranked seventh in the country.      This will be the Cards’ first road game of the season.

Kentucky lost its season opener to Western Kentucky but bounced back last week with a victory over Miami (Ohio), the first for new coach Mark Stoops.
