Sights and Sounds From Cyclouvia on Bardstown Road

For the second time, police closed Bardstown Road to vehicular traffic for several hours for the benefit of cyclists and pedestrians. Louisville's second Cyclouvia was held on Sunday; two more are planned for other neighborhoods in the next several months.

Sneakers, skateboards and bicycles (0f all sorts) on Sunday afternoon took to pavement normally tread by car tires.

Louisville Experiments With Crowdfunding Again for This Year's Cyclouvia

Louisville’s Cyclouvia—a version of similar "open streets" events held in cities around the world—returns next month. Bardstown Road will be closed to vehicular traffic for several hours on a Sunday afternoon.

CycLOUvia: Car-Free Events Coming to Bardstown Road, West Broadway, Frankfort Avenue

Mayor Greg Fischer announced today that the city will sponsor three CycLOUvia events this year, starting on Bardstown Road next month. The  car-free street event will also come to West Broadway and Frankfort Avenue in the spring.

CycLOUvia Organizers Hope to Hold Event Again

The organizers of Louisville’s first-ever CycLOUvia say the event in the Highlands was a success, and they’d definitely like to do it again.

A two-mile stretch of Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue was closed to vehicles Sunday to encourage walking and biking. Hundreds of people turned out.

PHOTOS: Louisville's First-Ever CycLOUvia

A two-mile stretch of road was closed to vehicles yesterday afternoon for Louisville's first CycLOUvia. The event was inspired by a similar one called Ciclovia in Bogota, Colombia, where streets are closed to traffic every Sunday to encourage walking and biking.
