Kentucky Colleges Award More Degrees This Year Than Ever Before, State Says

Kentucky’s colleges and universities awarded more degrees than ever before in the 2013-14 academic year, according to a report by the Council on Postsecondary Education.

More than 63,000 degrees and credentials were awarded during the 2013-14 school year—1.2 percent more than last year, but 60 percent more than a decade ago.

Mayor Greg Fischer Wants $10 Million To Double Kentucky's Engineering Degrees

Mayor Greg Fischer says he’s working with University of Louisville President James Ramsey to double the number of engineering degrees earned in Kentucky.

Fischer says the General Assembly should commit an additional $10 million when it sets the budget next year to expand engineering programs at U of L and the University of Kentucky. 

If the commonwealth doubles the number of engineering degrees it would bring the state closer to the national average, he says.
