LGDA 100 Show Celebrates Graphic Design in Kentuckiana

The Louisville Graphic Design Association hosts its annual LGDA 100 Show this week. The juried exhibit of graphic and interactive design, photography and illustration showcases the best design work submitted by designers and agencies in the Kentuckiana region. 

Both professional and student work will be on display at the show Friday evening, 6 p.m., at Interactive Media Lab (124 N. 1st St.).

How Does the Kentucky Derby's New Logo Stack Up Against Recent Versions?

We're just shy of eight months away from that season when Louisville becomes a mash-up of a Kid Rock concert and a "Great Gatsby" cosplay party—but you can't really escape the Kentucky Derby in this town no matter the date.

So Churchill Downs has revealed the new logos for the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.

Here they are:

The firm SME designed the logos, as it has for the past six years. They were trying to pay "homage to both the traditions and pedigree of these iconic brands," Churchill Downs said in a news release.

21C Exhibits Yale Architecture Student Distillery Designs

A new exhibit at 21C Museum Hotel features the work of ten graduate students from the Yale School of Architecture.  The students were challenged to design a distillery for a proposed site on Main Street.  Their projects take into consideration concerns over Louisville’s agricultural and manufacturing climate as well as the mechanics of the distillery process.
