Indiana Officially Drops Common Core Education Standards

The Indiana Board of Education has approved new math and English standards to replace the Common Core benchmarks in K through 12 classrooms this fall.     

The board voted 10-1 this morning to endorse the new education standards .

Some Common Core opponents told the board that the new benchmarks are no more than watered-down versions of the contentious national standards.

But board member Dr. Brad Oliver says Indiana’s students will be better served with a state-developed system.
