Kentucky Expanded Gambling Critic Shares Concerns With House Committee

The fight over expanded gambling continues in Frankfort.

Opponent took their concerns on Wednesday to the state House.

While much of the criticism is rooted in moral opposition to gambling, there’s concern about a lack of transparency as well.

Members of anti-gaming groups told lawmakers that the harm gaming would cause isn’t worth the estimated $286 million in new tax revenue that Rep. Larry Clark says his gaming bill would generate.

Family Foundation Criticizes U of L Administration Over Chick-Fil-A Comments

The Family Foundation of Kentucky is criticizing members of the University of Louisville administration for their response to a controversy surrounding Chick-Fil-A.

For weeks, criticism has been leveled at Chick-Fil-A because it’s CEO, Dan Cathy, said recently he believes marriage should only be between a man and a woman. Cathy and his company are well-known for their Christian beliefs. Notably, Chick-Fil-A restaurants are closed on Sundays.

Instant Racing Case Again Appealed to State Supreme Court

Supporters of instant racing in Kentucky are once again trying to take their case to the state supreme court. Instant racing games allow players to wager on previously-run horse races using slot-machine like-devices. The Franklin Circuit Court previously ruled that the games are legal, but an appeals court sent the decision back, saying  the anti-gambling Family Foundation should've been allowed to gather evidence in the case.  Now horse industry officials are appealing that decision in hopes of taking the case to the state supreme court.
