WFPK's Sean Cannon Remakes 'Super Bowl Shuffle' With Jim James, Lil Bub and More

With the big game in sight, there's a star-studded remake of the "Super Bowl Shuffle" making the Internet rounds. It features Jim James, David Wain, Lil Bub (the cat), John Roderick, Tom Scharpling and a host of other notables from comedy and music.

This track was masterminded and produced by WFPK's own Sean Cannon, host of After Dark. He's selling the song to raise money for charity, too.

Louisville Cardinals Retain Assistant Football Coach

Louisville defensive line coach Clint Hurtt will remain on the Cardinals' football staff under "significant" penalties imposed by the school for NCAA violations committed while a Miami assistant coach.

The NCAA Tuesday announced penalties for Miami, including a two-year show-cause penalty for Hurtt requiring compliance updates to the sanctioning body. Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich says that the school had suspended Hurtt but plans no additional action against him.

Louisville Cardinals' Charlie Strong: 'I've Never, Ever Thought About the NFL'

Louisville Cardinals football coach Charlie Strong isn't paying much attention to an NFL panel’s suggestion that he’d make a good candidate for a professional football coaching job.

ESPN reports that an NFL advisory board formed to identify potential minority coaches is pushing Strong and Stanford’s David Shaw.

“I’ve never, ever thought about the NFL," Strong said, speaking to reporters on Monday.

UK Football Falls to No. 1 Alabama


The number 1 ranked University of Alabama easily defeated the University of Kentucky in a 48-7 victory Saturday night.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Crimson Tide scored on their last eight possessions to beat the Wildcats for the fifth straight time.

Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron threw for a career-high 359 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown to Kevin Norwood.

Louisville Cardinals Overwhelm Temple Owls; UK Falls Short at South Carolina; IU Beats Penn State

Teddy Bridgewater threw for 348 yards and two touchdowns to keep No. 7 Louisville undefeated with a 30-7 win over winless Temple on Saturday.

Bridgewater made it look easy against the overwhelmed Owls (0-5, 0-2 American Athletic Conference). He threw for 228 yards in the first half to help the Cardinals roll to a 24-0 lead.

The Cardinals (5-0, 1-0) lost a bid for their second straight shutout when Temple scored with 38 seconds left.

The Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats kickoff their annual football game Saturday with the team in red as big favorites. But, if you're heading to Lexington—or just driving around the state—what type of license plates are you most likely to see?

Well, University of Kentucky plates. The UK logo is on 25,533 specialty license plates, according to  2012 data provided to WFPL from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Louisville Cardinals Easily Defeat the Ohio Bobcats

The Louisville Cardinals handily defeated the Ohio Bobcats on Sunday to start the 2013 college football season.

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw five touchdown passes to lead the Cardinals to a 49-7 victory at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Bridgewater's back-up, Will Gardner, also threw a touchdown pass, his in the fourth quarter.

Louisville Cardinals Won't do Autographs at Football Fan Day

The Louisville Cardinals football team won't do its annual autograph session during Sunday's Fan Day because of a national controversy over the signing of memorabilia.

Instead, the Cardinals will hold a tw0-hour practice in full pads for fans to watch. Parking and admission to Fan Day is free.

Alcohol Banned At Some UK Tailgating Spots

Some tailgaters won't be allowed to imbibe before the University of Kentucky's football game against South Carolina this weekend.

UK President Eli Capilouto has imposed an alcohol ban for non-reserved tailgating spots near the stadium in Lexington.

The new rule also prohibits DJs and bands, and comes after fights broke out before and after Kentucky's loss to Western Kentucky earlier this month.

Capilouto said in a campus email Thursday that police will bolster their presence in the non-reserved tailgate area along Cooper Drive near Commonwealth Stadium.
