GOP Spokesman: Campaign Attacks Focused on Williams Now Irrelevant

Since the campaign for control of the Kentucky House started, Democrats and supportive outside groups have used outgoing Senate President David Williams as an attack on GOP candidates.

For weeks, the outside group Kentucky Family Values has sent out political mail attempting to link GOP incumbents and challengers as "votes for Williams" in Frankfort. 

But now that Williams is set to become a judge, Republicans say the attacks aren't relevant.

Democratic Super PAC Plans to Influence State House Races

A Democratic super PAC that was active in last year’s governor’s race is taking part in legislative races this fall.  The Kentucky Family Values super PAC was started to help Governor Steve Beshear win re-election. The group has now re-formed under new leadership to influence state House races. 

“I hope we’re going to be successful and that is, elect enough family values oriented Democrats in the state House for the Democrats to retain control,” PAC chairman and retired Louisville lawyer Kevin Hable told Kentucky Public Radio in a phone interview.

McConnell's PAC Helps Republicans in Effort to Take State House

Kentucky Republicans hoping to win the state House in elections this fall are getting a helping hand from the party’s leader.

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell has used his leadership PAC to dole out at least $54,000 dollars to Republican lawmakers in the last three months.

McConnell typically uses the Bluegrass Committee PAC to help U.S. Senate candidates in his bid to become majority leader. But his focus is now on making sure Kentucky’s two legislative chambers are controlled by Republicans. Currently, the Senate is GOP controlled, but not the House.
