More Girls Target Archery, Inspired By 'The Hunger Games'

The indoor shooting range at Archery in the Wild in northern Colorado used to be dominated by camouflage and hunters. But on this Saturday morning, the archery range is dotted with ponytails and 7-year-old girls like Y'Jazzmin Christopher.

The popularity of The Hunger Games series is fueling an interest in the sport of archery, particularly among girls. Some sporting equipment outfitters say they've seen a big boost in bow and arrow sales since the film series began in 2012.

“I think slow down," Lawrence said. "I can’t think of anything career-wise. I mean, one day, I’d like to direct. I've always wanted to direct.

“Really, the only thing I’m thinking of life-wise right now is just kind of slowing down and buying a house and making a home and having a little less attention.”

Fans Flock to Tinseltown for Early Showing of 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire'

Fans of the "Hunter Games" franchise—and/or the film's star, Louisville native Jennifer Lawrence—lined up inside the Tinseltown cineplex in the East End on Wednesday night to view an early showing (for charity) of the latest installment in the movie series.

"Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is out officially on Friday, though showing are set to begin in Louisville Thursday evening. The film stars Lawrence as an unwilling warrior living in a dystopian future. The first installment released last year grossed $408 million domestically.

Jennifer Lawrence Nabs Second Academy Award Nomination

It's hard to argue that an actress has had a better past 12 months than Jennifer Lawrence.

On Thursday morning, the Louisville native was nominated for an Academy Award for best actress for her role in the dramedy Silver Linings Playbook. 

It's her second nomination. In 2010, Lawrence was nominated for her role in the dark indie drama Winter's Bone.
