I'll Have Another Headed to Japan to Stud

Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner I'll Have Another has been sold to a horse farm on the island of Hokkaido. The horse is currently at Betfair Hollywood Park and will embark on a stud career in August.

I'll Have Another Retired; Dullahan New Belmont Favorite

Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner I’ll Have Another’s racing career is over.

The colt’s handlers withdrew him from tomorrow’s Belmont Stakes after a swollen tendon was discovered in his left foreleg.     Owner Paul Reddam says he'll be retired. 

I’ll Have Another was the 4-5 favorite to win the Belmont Stakes and become racing’s first Triple Crown winner since 1978.

Horse Race Writer and Handicapper Discusses Scratch of I'll Have Another from Belmont

Today at 1pm there was a press conference at Belmont Park where the tendon injury of I'll Have Another was discussed, and the decision to remove him from the running in the Belmont Stakes was explained.

BREAKING NEWS--Trainer: I'll Have Another Won't Run in Belmont Stakes

Trainer Doug O'Neill said this morning that Triple Crown contender  I'll Have Another will not run in tomorrow's Belmont Stakes.

O'Neill told radio host Dan Patrick that the colt has the start of tendonitis in his left front leg and has been pulled from the race.

O'Neill and the horse's connections will hold a press conference at 1:00pm.

I'll Have Another Favored To Win Belmont, Triple Crown

Triple Crown contender I’ll Have Another is the 4-5 early favorite to win the Belmont Stakes.

The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner leads a 12 horse field.    He’ll run from post position No. 11, which is fine with trainer Doug O’Neill.    

"Being in the 11 hole, we’re able to kind of see how the pace sets up and if they’re crawling we’ll be hopefully leading the crawl and if they’re flying we’ll be sitting in behind the horses flying," O'Neill said at today's post position draw at Belmont Park in New York.

I'll Have Another Wins Preakness

Kentucky Derby winner I’ll Have Another has captured the second jewel of racing’s Triple Crown, overtaking Bodemeister at the finish line to win the 137thPreakness Stakes.

I’ll Have Another now has a chance to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.  The final leg of the series is the Belmont Stakes in three weeks.

As he did in the Derby,  I’ll Have Another came on strong in the stretch to edge out Bodemeister, who led for most of both races.   

The third-place Preakness finisher was Creative Cause.

Six Derby Horses in Preakness Stakes Field

A field of eleven is entered for tomorrow’s Preakness Stakes, the second jewel in thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown. 

Kentucky Derby runner-up Bodemeister was made the morning line favorite this week. He’ll run from post position seven.

Derby winner I’ll Have Another was the early second choice. He’ll break from
post position nine. A Preakness win would set up an opportunity for him to become racing’s first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.
