Indiana's ISTEP+ Test Results Mapped Out

Districts in shades of green saw increases in their ISTEP scores. Districts in shades of brown saw decreases. The deeper the color, the bigger the change in the district’s pass rate.

Our friends at the State Impact project in Indiana have mapped out yesterday's ISTEP+ exam results by school district.

As WFPL reported Wednesday, ISTEP+ scores--which measures third through eighth grade students in English language arts and math--improved slightly over last year. In southern Indiana school districts, scores in English dropped but improved in math.

English Scores Drop In Southern Indiana Schools, Math Scores Improve

English language arts test scores have dropped in southern Indiana schools as they continue lagging behind their peers, according to preliminary ISTEP+ exam results issued by the Indiana Department of Education today. 

Greater Clark County Schools Superintendent Andrew Melin says it's interesting that English scores dropped in the region and he couldn't provide a guess as to why.

Indiana Lawmakers to Hold Hearing on ISTEP Glitches

The president of the company that administers the ISTEP  standardized test to students across Indiana is scheduled to defend her company before a panel of state lawmakers this week.

Nearly 80,000 students were frozen out of the online portion of the test last month because of computer glitches.

CTB/McGraw-Hill  President Ellen Haley is scheduled to testify before the legislative panel Friday.

Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz also announced last week that the state has hired an independent contractor to review the test results.
