UofL President James Ramsey Gets Boost in Pay, Will Make More Than $1M This Year

University of Louisville President James Ramsey will get a significant increase in pay this year, coming in the form of a bonus that boosts his annual compensation to about $1.2 million.

At an annual retreat this week, the University's Board of Trustees recommended Ramsey receive a  performance bonus, as well as a two percent raise.

University of Louisville Needs To Tighten Financial Controls, Audit Says

The University of Louisville released Wednesday an auditing firm’s long-anticipated report on the school’s financial controls, an analysis prompted by a series of thefts at the institution.

Strothman and Company said U of L needs to hire a chief financial officer, which the school is already trying to do. The institution also needs to ensure all of the university’s computer systems are subject to the same security controls. And it should improve controls over payroll to reduce the risk that fictitious employees could be paid, the report says.

University of Louisville Raises Tuition 5 Percent

When the University of Louisville's fall semester begins, students will pay more tuition than ever before.

UofL was able to offset a nearly $2.1 million annual cut in state funding, in part, by raising tuition for the upcoming academic year by 5 percent.

This means in-state students attending UofL will pay $10,236 for the 2014-15 school year.

University of Louisville Met Its $1-Billion Fundraising Goal

The University of Louisville got contributions from 75,000 donors from every state and every Kentucky county to meet its $1-billion fundraising campaign, school officials announced Thursday.

The Charting Our Course campaign began in 2007.

UofL President James Ramsey said he did not expect the funds to be raised so quickly.

"At the time, a billion dollars sounded overwhelming," he said.

Presidents of UK, UofL Make Funding Case to Kentucky General Assembly

The presidents of the universities of Kentucky and Louisville made their case Thursday for more state dollars before a legislative  budget review committee.

U of L President James Ramsey and UK President Eli Capilouto are slated for a 2.5 percent cut in funding in the first year of Gov. Steve Beshear's proposed budget.

University of Louisville Hospital Announces Partnership with KentuckyOne Health

After over eight months of negotiations, U of L Hospital and University Medical Center will enter into a joint agreement with KentuckyOne Health on March 1, 2013.

KentuckyOne Health -- which is under directives of Catholic Health Initiatives -- will maintain the day-to-day operations but U of L Hospital and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center will remain independent in its oversight and health directives, which was a major criticism during last year's merger talks.
