Kentucky Same-Sex Marriage Case To Be Argued In Federal Appeals Court on Aug. 6

 A federal appeals court will hear lawsuit challenging laws against same-sex marriage in Kentucky and three Midwestern states on the same day this summer.

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments in the case on Aug. 6 in Cincinnati. Joe Dunman, an attorney for the Kentucky plaintiffs, told WFPL recently that a decision could be made in the weeks or months following those oral arguments.

U.S. District Judge John Heyburn to Take Senior Judge Status


The federal judge whose recent rulings on a Kentucky same-sex marriage lawsuit made national headlines plans to take senior status.

U.S. District Judge John G. Heyburn II last month informed President Obama that he'll move to senior judge status on April 1, according to the U.S. District Clerk's Office for the Western District of Kentucky.
