Kennedy Bridge Repair Work Winding Down

The Kennedy Memorial Bridge deck replacement project is nearly complete. 

The $18 million repair job began June 21, forcing the closure of two or more lanes of traffic in each direction, shutting down several ramps and causing daily traffic delays.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Andrea Clifford says all lanes and ramps at the bridge are scheduled to be open by next Wednesday, August 1.

Portion Of I-65 Southbound To Be Closed For Repairs

The southbound lanes of Interstate-65 between downtown Louisville and the Watterson Expressway will be shut down this weekend to allow for paving.

Motorists who come into Louisville via the Kennedy Bridge will be rerouted on Interstate-64.  The closure begins at 7:00pm this  evening and continues through 5:00am Monday.

It’s one of several major repair projects underway in the Louisville area causing traffic delays and detours.

I-65 Section To Be Shut Down For Weekend Repairs

A three-mile stretch of Interstate 65 northbound in downtown Louisville will be shut down this weekend to allow for repaving work.

The northbound lanes of I-65 from the Watterson Expressway to Chestnut Street will be closed from 7:00 this evening  until 5:00am Monday. 

Andrea Clifford with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says it’s more efficient to shut down the entire stretch than to allow limited traffic and pave one lane at a time.

I-65 Ramp Reopenings Delayed Again

For the second time this week, the reopening of a busy portion of Louisville’s Spaghetti Junction has been delayed.

The exit ramps from Interstate-65 northbound to I-64 west and east and northbound I-71 have been closed since June 25 as part of the larger Kennedy Bridge repair project.
