Jack Conway Raises $750,000 Towards Kentucky Governor's Race

Attorney General Jack Conway has raised more than $750,000 since announcing his campaign for the Democratic nomination for Kentucky governor less than two months ago.

Conway has about $705,000 in cash on hand, according to the campaign's first report to the state election finance registry. He has donated only $1,000 of his own money to his campaign.

It's a significant amount in such as short period. Conway is the only Democratic candidate running in the primary so far.

3 Top Kentucky Democrats Endorse Jack Conway for Governor

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway's campaign for governor received endorsements Thursday from three leading state Democrats.

Conway picked up the support of former U.S. Sen. Wendell Ford, former State Auditor Crit Luallen and current U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, the campaign announced. 

"I am humbled to receive the endorsements of three people who have been so dedicated to standing up for Kentuckians and fighting for the working men and women of our Commonwealth," Conway said in a news release.

Days after the Kentucky Derby another horse race is on the mind of Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway, according to multiple sources.

Conway is expected to announce his bid for governor this week, possibly as early as Tuesday.

Those familiar with the decision have leaked that he has plucked state Rep. Sannie Overly, D-Paris, as a running mate.

Special Prosecutor Named in Louisville Councilman David James' Job-Conflict Case

The Kentucky Attorney General's office has appointed a special prosecutor to determine whether Councilman David James' simultaneous job as a University of Louisville police officer is unconstitutional.

Commonwealth Attorney Laura Witt Donnell is the prosecutor in Shelby, Spencer, and Anderson counties. She will make a ruling on the case, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Jack Conway's office confirmed.

Commonwealth's Attorney Thomas Wine is returning a controversial case involving Louisville Metro Councilman David James' potential jobs conflict to the Kentucky attorney general's office.

Earlier this month, Attorney General Jack Conway sent a letter to Wine saying "ouster authority for county offices" fell within the Louisville prosecutor's jurisdiction.

Efforts Continue to Address Propane Shortage

Government officials and suppliers say they’re continuing efforts to help ease the region’s propane shortage.

Demand and prices for the heating gas have soared as temperatures have plummeted.   Supplies were already affected by a record harvest that required farmers to dry large amounts of grain.

Midwestern states are the hardest hit by the shortage, but many Kentucky homes have been in short supply as well.

Kentucky Attorney General to be Dropped From Parenting Columnist's Lawsuit

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says his office and attorneys for nationally syndicated parenting columnist John Rosemond have agreed that Conway should be dismissed from a lawsuit filed by Rosemond.

Rosemond filed a federal lawsuit this month saying his first amendment right to free speech was violated when he received a cease and desist letter from Kentucky authorities because he isn't licensed to practice in the commonwealth.
