Kentucky Education Officials Consider Rescheduling ACT Test Date


Despite excessive snow days, officials with Jefferson County Public Schools have recommended the statewide ACT test for high school juniors not be rescheduled.

The decision stems from a survey issued by the Kentucky Department of Education to gauge the effect the missed school days have had on student’s preparation.

JCPS Competition to Design a School Getting Greater Than Expected Participation

Officials with Jefferson County Public Schools anticipate they’ll get more proposals than expected for a competition to design a school.

It’s a good mix of applicants, says Jonathan Lowe, who heads the district’s School of Innovation Design Competition.  The winner will receive help from JCPS to see their dream school become a reality.

Kentucky Education Commissioner on Funding: 'We Will See Pink Slips Like We’ve Never Seen Before'


Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday says teachers could faces layoffs and school districts could fail financially if education funding is not restored.

Holliday has pushed lawmakers to restore per-pupil funding levels to pre-recession levels. That request is more than $250 million dollars for the two-year budget that lawmakers will set when they return next year.
