Kentucky State Police Watching Movement to Change Drunk Driving Limit

Kentucky State Police again promise to have patrols on highways for Memorial Day weekend. And, as always, they’ll be watchful for drunk drivers.

Meanwhile, there’s a move afoot to  tighten restrictions on drivers who also drink.

The National Transportation Safety Board is recommending another drop in blood alcohol limits. It’s asking states to further restrict the legal limit from .08 to .05. Officials with the Kentucky State Police haven’t yet taken a stand on the proposal, but spokesman Rick Saint-Blancard says the agency "enforces the laws as they are written."

Seven Charged With Child Exploitation in KSP Sweep

In what’s being called the largest investigation ever conducted by the Electronic Crime Branch of the Kentucky State Police, seven suspects are now under arrest on child exploitation charges.

State troopers and detectives from seven posts served search warrants covering central and eastern Kentucky. Seven suspects were arrested and charged with possession and distribution of matter portraying the sexual performance of a minor.

Kentucky State Police Not OK with Legalized Pot

This month, voters in Colorado and Washington elected to legalize marijuana in their states. And this week, the superintendent of the Indiana State Police told his state’s lawmakers that he supports legalizing and regulating marijuana.

The traditionally hard-line stance American officials have held against marijuana is relaxing in some places -- but don't expect Kentucky law enforcement to follow along.
