Kentucky's Kynect Health Exchange Tops 200,000 Enrollees

Kentucky’s health insurance exchange, Kynect, has topped 200,000 enrollees, according to the Governor’s Office.

New data says an average 1,600 people are signing up each day.

As of Friday, three-fourths of those who have signed up have enrolled in the expanded Medicaid program. And the remaining quarter have enrolled in new private plans.

Survey: Employer Health Insurance Coverage Rising in Kentucky

A two-year decline in the number of working-age Kentuckians who get health insurance from employers reversed in late 2013, according to survey results released Monday by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky.

The survey was done before the rollout of the Affordable Care Act and is meant to give a "baseline" for how Kentuckians are getting health insurance, so it can be compared to future years, said Susan Zepeda, president of the Foundation for a Health Kentucky.

Kentucky Health Insurance Exchange Has 116,000 Enrollees

More than 116,000 Kentuckians have enrolled in new health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act.

The Governor’s Office reports that enrollments through the state’s health exchange, KYnect (Connect), are up 93 percent since Thanksgiving. The exchange has averaged about thirteen-hundred new enrollees per day since it launched on Oct. 1.

About 1 in 4 enrollees have signed up for new private plans, with the rest joining Medicaid as a result of that program’s expansion.

Beshear says his decision to implement the state health care exchange and expand Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, was an effort to address Kentucky’s historically low health rankings.

Number of Kentuckians Who Must Upgrade Health Plans Under Obamacare Lower Than Expected

The number of Kentuckians who have to upgrade their health insurance plans under the new federal healthcare law is lower than expected.

Initial reports indicated that about 280,000 insured Kentuckians would be forced to switch to new plans to comply with the Affordable Care Act.

The Kentucky Department of Insurance reports that the number is now closer to 168,000 people.

About 92,000 Kentuckians Have Signed Up For Health Care Under State Exchange

More than 92,000 Kentuckians have signed up for health coverage through the state’s healthcare exchange, Kynect, since it opened in October.

Kynect’s executive director, Carrie Banahan, says that the expansion is result of a growing demand for the health exchange’s services, which shows no signs of slowing down.

Kynect State Health Exchange Reports Strong Post-Thanksgiving Gains

Kentucky's health exchange, kynect, is reporting strong gains in new health insurance enrollees since Thanksgiving.

 The Governor's office released statistics late Friday showing that Kynect added 24,140 Kentuckians to a list of the newly ensured. About 5,400 of those were added in the last week. According to kynect's website, the total number of Kentuckians who have enrolled in a new health insurance plan is 84,422.

About 40 Percent of Kentucky's Healthcare Exchange Enrollees are Younger Than 35

FRANKFORT — Gov. Steve Beshear's office says Kentucky's new online health exchange enrolled about 1,000 people each day for health coverage during its first month.

The governor's office said 32,485 Kentuckians had signed up for coverage as of Friday morning. About 40 percent of enrollees are under age 35.

Beshear says people are still flocking to the state exchange for coverage that will begin Jan. 1.
