Traffic Restrictions Planned for Possible Final Four Celebrations

Police plan to institute no stopping or parking restrictions on streets near the University of Louisville and west Louisville on Sunday and possibly Monday because of the potential for celebrations after the Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team's Final Four game(s), Metro Police said.

No parking or stopping restrictions will be in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday on:

Louisville Cardinals' Kevin Ware: 'Our Goals are Still the Same'

Days after he broke his leg on a nationally televised Elite Eight game, Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware said his focus is on seeing his team head to the Final Four—and win a national title.

Ware also described what happened with 6:33 to go in the first half of Sunday's game against the Duke Blue Devils as he was sprawled on the court.

He'd been through a similar play when Louisville played Duke earlier in the season. But this time, Ware said, he landed the wrong way.

Louisville Cardinals' Road to the Final Four and Beyond, by the Numbers

The consensus going to the NCAA Tournament was that the Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team had the toughest road to the Final Four, despite being the overall No. 1 seed.

The NCAA Tournament selection committee explained that regions take precedent when creating brackets—and Louisville didn't have far to travel with games in Lexington and Indianapolis.

Louisville Cardinals Earn a Spot in the Women's Final Four

The Louisville Cardinals women's basketball team pulled another upset Tuesday night to earn a spot in the Final Four.

U of L topped the Tennessee Lady Vols 86-78 in Oklahoma City.

In winning, the No. 5 seed Cardinals beat a better-seeded team for the third straight game—No. 4 seed Purdue, No. 1 seed Baylor and the second-seeded Tennessee.

Shoni Schimmel led the Cardinals with 24 points.

Rick Pitino: Kevin Ware Expected to Join Louisville Cardinals for Final Four

Injured guard Kevin Ware is doing well the day after breaking his right leg in a Final Four game against the Duke Blue Devils, Coach Rick Pitino said on Monday.


"He's up and about—he's actually on crutches walking," Pitino said. "They want his blood flowing. The only thing they're concerned about at this point in the next 48 hours because the bone comes out of the skin they're concerned about a five or ten percent chance of infection. If no infection takes place, they'll be very excited."

Louisville Cardinals' Kevin Ware has Successful Surgery on Injured Leg

Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware had successful surgery late Sunday on his right leg broken during an Elite Eight game and is expected to remain in Indianapolis' Methodist Hospital until at least Tuesday, the university said.

He's hopeful to return to Louisville mid-week and join the team for next weekend's Final Four in Atlanta, the university added.

Louisville Cardinals Upset Top-Seeded Baylor to Reach Women's Elite Eight

Monique Reid hit two free throws with two seconds remaining Sunday night to lead the Louisville Cardinals women's basketball team over the top-seeded Baylor Lady Bears.

The No. 5-seed Cardinals led throughout the game until the final seconds, when Baylor took a one-point lead and Reid hit her fateful free-throws to go up 82-81. Louisville held Baylor star Brittney Griner, AP Preseason Player of the Year, to just 14 points. 

Baylor entered the game as the defending national champions and the nation's top-ranked team, having lost just one game during the regular season.

Louisville Cardinals Advance to Final Four, but Ware Seriously Injured

The Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team advance to its second straight Final Four on Sunday, but a serious injury in the first half cast a pall over the game.

With about 6 minutes to go in the first half, guard Kevin Ware broke his right leg—a  serious injury that visibly upset the Louisville players and coaches a caused a lengthy break in play.
