Louisville Cardinals Get No. 3 Seed in NCAA Women's Tournament

The Louisville Cardinals will be the No. 3 seed in the Louisville region of the 2014 women's NCAA Tournament.

The Cardinals, ranked No. 4 by the Associated Press, play 14 seed Idaho on March 23 in their first game. Tennessee is the No. 1 seed in their region. UofL's road to the Final Four goes through the KFC Yum Center.

The Kentucky Wildcats are also a No. 3 seed. They're in the Notre Dame region, headed by No. 1 seed Notre Dame. They play 14 seed Wright State on March 22.

Pairings Set For 2014 Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament

The Louisville Cardinals are a No. 4 seed in the men’s NCAA basketball tournament pairings and will open play Thursday against Manhattan.

Many thought U of L would earn a higher tournament seed after winning the American Athletic Conference Tournament. Manhattan is coached by Steve Masiello, a protégé of Cards’ coach Rick Pitino.

Louisville and Manhattan will face off in the Midwest Region Thursday in Orlando, Fla.

Louisville Cardinals Win AAC College Basketball Tournament Title

Montrezl Harrell had 22 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks, and fifth-ranked Louisville beat No. 21 Connecticut 71-61 Saturday for the inaugural American Athletic Conference tournament title in the Cardinals' lone season in the league.

The defending national champions clinched their 40th NCAA tournament berth.

The Cardinals (29-5) have won three straight league tournament titles after taking the last two in the Big East, and they added their 19th overall before moving to the Atlantic Coast Conference in July.

Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats Advance in Conference Tournaments

Russ Smith scored a career-high 42 points and No. 5 Louisville cruised to a 94-65 victory over Houston on Friday in the semifinals of the inaugural American Athletic Conference tournament.

Luke Hancock and Montrezl Harrell both added 12 for the Cardinals, the tournament's second seed, who will face Connecticut in Saturday’s championship game in Memphis.

In Atlanta, James Young scored 21 points and Willie Cauley-Stein had six blocks as Kentucky pulled away to beat LSU 85-67 in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference tournament.

College Basketball: Louisville Cardinals Roll Over Rutgers, 92-31

The Louisville Cards have easily advanced to the semifinals of the men’s American Athletic  Conference Tournament in Memphis.

U of L crushed Rutgers 92-31 today and will play Houston Friday evening at 7:00.   Chris Jones led the Cards with 18 points, but four others also scored in double figures.  

Houston upset SMU in their quarterfinal game.  

The Indiana Hoosiers have been eliminated from the men’s Big Ten Tournament.  IU lost to Illinois 64-54 this afternoon in first-round play.

College Basketball: U of L Prepares for Inaugural AAC Tournament

The Louisville Cardinals open play Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament in Memphis.

U of L will face Rutgers in the 3:00pm game.  The Scarlet Knights defeated South Florida in the first round.

Cards coach Rick Pitino says a strong showing this week would boost his team's seeding in the NCAA tournament.

College Basketball: Louisville Cardinals Fall in Women's AAC Tourney Final

The University of Louisville women’s basketball team fell short in their bid for an American Athletic Conference Tournament title Monday night. The third-ranked Cardinals lost to number one Connecticut 72-52 in the AAC championship game in Uncasvlle, Conn.

U of L players will now wait a week to find out when and where they’ll play in the NCAA Tournament. The pairings are set for the men’s AAC Tournament in Memphis. Louisville opens play Thursday afternoon against either Rutgers or South Florida.

College Basketball: Senior Day at U of L; UK Visits Florida, IU at Michigan

The University of Louisville men’s basketball team closes out the regular season tomorrow against Connecticut.

It’s the final home game for senior players Russ Smith, Luke Hancock, Stephan Van Treese and Tim Henderson.

Henderson, a Louisville native, earned his spot on the team as a walk-on, and was the hero of last year’s Final Four game against Wichita State, sinking two key three-pointers to lead the Cards to the championship game.

UK's Calipari Trying to Get Players 'Thinking Right' After Late-Season Skid

University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari says he takes the blame for his team’s recent struggles.

The Wildcats have dropped two straight games—including a home loss to Arkansas and Saturday’s upset at South Carolina—heading into the final week of the regular season.  

Calipari was ejected from the South Carolina game after receiving two technical fouls.   He's also come under some criticism for not attending his post-game press conference. 

UK fell from 17th to 25th in this week’s AP poll.

Pitino Says Fan Behavior Has Worsened in Many Arenas

University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino says Oklahoma State star Marcus Smart was wrong to shove a Texas Tech fan who yelled an insult at him from the stands Saturday night.

Pitino says he tells his players to “turn the other cheek” and ignore any taunts they get from opposing teams’ fans.

But he understands Smart's anger.
