Dieng to Return For Cardinals's Game Against Wildcats

The Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats square off tomorrow in their annual regular season basketball battle.

U of L has lost four straight to the Wildcats, including their Final Four matchup back in March in New Orleans, but the Cardinals are back this season with an experienced team and bring a 11-1 record and No. 4 ranking to the game.

It will also mark the return of Cards’ center Gorgui Dieng the lineup. He’s missed the last seven games with a broken hand.

Tom Jurich concedes: He was nervous that Louisville football coach Charlie Strong may leave for the Tennessee Volunteers.

"Are you nuts? Of course I was nervous," Jurich, UofL's athletics director, said during a news conference.

Charlie Strong Staying with Louisville Cardinals

Charlie Strong will remain the football coach for the University of Louisville, he said Thursday morning in a news conference.

The University of Tennessee offered him the Volunteers' head coaching position on Tuesday, he said.

In confirming that he'd return for a fourth season, Strong spoke highly of Louisville athletics director Tom Jurich -- noting that Jurich gave him his first head coaching position after 27 years as an assistant.

Report: Charlie Strong Sticking with the Louisville Cardinals

 Update: Louisville Cardinals football coach Charlie Strong turned down an offer from the Tennessee Volunteers and is staying at UofL, according to a report from Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel.

Citing an unnamed source, Thamel reported that Strong is negotiating a contract extension with Louisville.

Charlie Strong 'Very Annoyed' By Rumors of Job Interviews

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong says he won’t discuss any rumors that he’s a candidate for coaching vacancies as the Cards prepare for their Sugar Bowl matchup next month.

Strong spoke to reporters a day after learning that the Cards will play Florida in the BCS game January 2nd in New Orleans.

Last week as the Cards were preparing for their season finale at Rutgers, Strong shot down a report that he had interviewed for the Auburn coaching job.

College Football: Louisville Cardinals Headed To Sugar Bowl

The University of Louisville football team will play Florida on January 2nd in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

The pairings for the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) were announced tonight.

It’s U of L’s first BCS berth since the 2006 season, when the Cards clinched a spot in the Orange Bowl.

The 22nd ranked Cards finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and a share of the Big East Conference title.

Florida, from the Southeastern Conference, is 11-1 and ranked fourth in the country.

Cards Soccer Team Falls at Maryland; Football Bowl Pairings Coming Sunday

The University of Louisville men’s soccer team fell short in their bid to reach the Final Four of the NCAA tournament, losing 3-1 at Maryland today.
