College Basketball: U of L Prepares for Inaugural AAC Tournament

The Louisville Cardinals open play Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament in Memphis.

U of L will face Rutgers in the 3:00pm game.  The Scarlet Knights defeated South Florida in the first round.

Cards coach Rick Pitino says a strong showing this week would boost his team's seeding in the NCAA tournament.

College Basketball: Louisville Cardinals Fall in Women's AAC Tourney Final

The University of Louisville women’s basketball team fell short in their bid for an American Athletic Conference Tournament title Monday night. The third-ranked Cardinals lost to number one Connecticut 72-52 in the AAC championship game in Uncasvlle, Conn.

U of L players will now wait a week to find out when and where they’ll play in the NCAA Tournament. The pairings are set for the men’s AAC Tournament in Memphis. Louisville opens play Thursday afternoon against either Rutgers or South Florida.

College Basketball: Senior Day at U of L; UK Visits Florida, IU at Michigan

The University of Louisville men’s basketball team closes out the regular season tomorrow against Connecticut.

It’s the final home game for senior players Russ Smith, Luke Hancock, Stephan Van Treese and Tim Henderson.

Henderson, a Louisville native, earned his spot on the team as a walk-on, and was the hero of last year’s Final Four game against Wichita State, sinking two key three-pointers to lead the Cards to the championship game.

UK's Calipari Trying to Get Players 'Thinking Right' After Late-Season Skid

University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari says he takes the blame for his team’s recent struggles.

The Wildcats have dropped two straight games—including a home loss to Arkansas and Saturday’s upset at South Carolina—heading into the final week of the regular season.  

Calipari was ejected from the South Carolina game after receiving two technical fouls.   He's also come under some criticism for not attending his post-game press conference. 

UK fell from 17th to 25th in this week’s AP poll.

Pitino Says Fan Behavior Has Worsened in Many Arenas

University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino says Oklahoma State star Marcus Smart was wrong to shove a Texas Tech fan who yelled an insult at him from the stands Saturday night.

Pitino says he tells his players to “turn the other cheek” and ignore any taunts they get from opposing teams’ fans.

But he understands Smart's anger.

Former Louisville QB Jeff Brohm Replaces Bobby Petrino as Western Kentucky's Coach

Former standout Louisville Cardinals quarterback Jeff Brohm is the new head football coach for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. 

Brohm, 42, takes over a Hilltoppers team that finished 8-4—including a win over the Kentucky Wildcats—under Bobby Petrino, who was introduced Thursday as the new head coach at Louisville.

Hundreds of Louisville Cardinals fans gathered Thursday afternoon at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

They wanted to get a glimpse of UofL's new football coach. The guy who used to be UofL's football coach.

I was among the crowd and spoke with some of the Louisville supporters to gauge how they felt about the return of Bobby Petrino for this audio postcard.

Petrino Introduced as Cards' Football Coach, Says This Time, It's a 'Destination Job'

Bobby Petrino says he’s learned from his mistakes and wants to finish his football coaching career at the University of Louisville.  

Petrino was introduced Thursday as the Cards' new coach.

"I want everyone here to know this is my destination job.  I can’t wait to get started," he said.

Bobby Petrino will be the Louisville Cardinals' football coach for the second time, the school announced Thursday.

Petrino, 52, has the best win percentage of any Louisville Cardinals football coach and led the team to a major postseason victory in the Orange Bowl. He had a 41-9 record during his first tenure with UofL from 2003 to 2006. In all, he has 83 career win and is known for his team's offensive prowess.

University of Louisville Trustee Says Bobby Petrino Hiring a 'Done Deal'

A member of the University of Louisville Board of Trustees says Bobby Petrino has accepted an offer to be the Cardinals next head football coach.

Jonathan Blue told The Associated Press Wednesday evening that it's a "done deal." Blue says the University of Louisville Athletic Association will meet Thursday morning and barring any unforeseen issues, is expected to approve athletic director Tom Jurich's recommendation to have Petrino replace Charlie Strong, who accepted the Texas job over the weekend.
