The enormous upset of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in the Virginia Republican primary election caught the political world off guard.

In less than 24 hours, GOP members have begun to carve up what is left of Cantor's political carcass, vying for his leadership spot. So far, House and Senate members of Kentucky's Republican delegation have either declined or have yet to respond to our request for comment.

Perhaps living vicariously through a more successful Republican insurgent candidate, former Senate candidate Matt Bevin told WFPL this is a good sign for the party.

Joined by his wife and nine children, Louisville businessman Matt Bevin accepted a 25-point thumping at the hands of Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell in Tuesday's primary.

"This was never about winning a single seat," he told supporters. "This was never about new version of the same old thing. This was about the very heart beat of America. We've heard a lot about this somehow being a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party. But every single one of us knows this is so much bigger than that."

Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes has also won her party's nomination and will face McConnell in the fall election.

Matt Bevin Questions Constitutionality of Minimum Wage

Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin says the federal government has no role in setting a minimum wage, which he suggests violates the U.S. Constitution.

The Tea Party-backed candidate made the comments during a campaign stop in western Kentucky this week.

"I don't see anywhere that it has been constitutionally-defined," Bevin told Think Progress when asked if it was unconstitutional.

Matt Bevin 'Shocked and Saddened' Over Toyota Closing Kentucky Headquarters

In a move observers are calling a huge blow to the state's economy, Toyota is closing their Northern Kentucky headquarters as part of a national consolidation.

The relocation will result in the loss of 1,600 mostly white-collar jobs.
