From the Simpsons to the Onion, the world is full of TV news parodies. Local TV newscasts (and the people who star in them) are easy targets. And among the stereotypes, next to Ted Baxter and the dim bulb weatherman, is the feature reporter. The impossibly-coiffured reporter in the field holding a microphone up to a waterskiing squirrel. But it wasn't always like that.

After 10 days, WLKY is back on Insight Cable in Louisville.

The station was pulled from the cable lineup earlier this month after Insight parent Time Warner and WLKY owner Hearst Television failed to ink a new retransmission agreement. Retransmission deals stipulate how much money cable operators pay to rebroadcast content.

Former Courier-Journal  Vice President of Circulation Mike Huot was laid off last year, and is now suing the C-J and parent company Gannett for age discrimination.

Huot's total compensation was over $300,000, according to Gannett Blog. His lawsuit alleges that the paper brought in a younger employee to replace him. 

Today, Gannett Blog posted a copy of Huot's lawsuit.

WLKY-TV posted what was once a fairly routine notice on its website today.

Notice to Insight cable subscribers: WLKY-TV's parent company, Hearst Television, is currently negotiating a renewal of its carriage agreement with Insight.

The chatty mechanics on NPR's "Car Talk" are pulling in to the garage.

Tom and Ray Magliozzi said Friday they will stop making new episodes of their comic auto advice show at the end of September, 25 years after "Car Talk" began in Boston. The show airs every Saturday morning and is National Public Radio's most popular program.

Older brother Tom is 74 years old and the brothers say it's time to stop and smell the cappuccino.
