Big Brothers Big Sisters Turning to Older Volunteers for Help

With hundreds of at-risk children on its waiting list to be paired with adult mentors, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana has launched a program aimed at recruiting older volunteers.

With the help of Humana, which is studying the effects of volunteerism on well-being, Big Brothers Big Sisters has begun what it calls the Legacy Program, which seeks mentors 55 and older. The organization’s Kristen Milosevich says such pairings have already produced positive results.
