Mercury Ballroom Opening Delayed, First Concert Canceled

Update: The concert has been canceled due to construction issues. Here's a statement from Live Nation:

Due to an unforeseen construction delay, Okkervil River’s concert on Friday night at Mercury Ballroom has been cancelled.

What Does Downtown Louisville's Mercury Ballroom Mean for Headliners Music Hall?

When a few friends from Louisville started booking music shows at Headliners Music Hall in 2005, they had no idea they'd be pioneers in  Louisville’s music scene.

“We never set out to do that,” said Joe Argabrite, a now co-owner of Headliners on Lexington Road.  “We set out to work hard and create a viable market, which we have and I think now people are very interested.”

New Louisville Music Venue to be Called Mercury Ballroom

A new music venue planned for South Fourth Street in Louisville now has a name.

The Mercury Ballroom is scheduled to open in April of next year.

It will be housed in the renovated Wright-Taylor Building near Fourth and Chestnut.   The venue is owned by Live Nation, which also operates the Louisville Palace just to the south.
