Milton-Madison Bridge Slide Complete; Span Could Open in About One Week

The Milton-Madison Bridge has been moved onto its permanent home.

Crews have finished the 55-foot slide of the new, half-mile long truss from temporary piers to refurbished supports that held the previous bridge.

The slide started back up Thursday morning after crews were forced to stop on Wednesday because of high winds.

The bridge has been closed since a March 11 construction accident.

The 84 year old Ohio River Bridge truss is being replaced and its piers are being renovated.

The new span alongside the bridge will be closed during the blast, as will river traffic.
