Alison Lundergan Grimes’ Fundraising Haul Cuts Mitch's McConnell Cash Advantage in Half

For the second time since entering the Kentucky Senate race, Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes' fundraising haul has outpaced Republican incumbent Mitch McConnell.

In the first three months of the year, Grimes raised $2.7 million compared to the $2.4 million McConnell generated for the quarter.

The money advantage still belongs to McConnell, who has raised $22 million overall in a duel campaign against Grimes and GOP primary challenger Matt Bevin.

Bevin announced Monday his campaign raised $1.1 million during the same period.

Staffers: Lack of African-American Women 'Decision-Makers' in Kentucky Behind Arnold Ethics Verdict

The absence of African-American women in Kentucky's halls of power is why former state Rep. John Arnold hasn't been held accountable.

That's according to Cassaundra Cooper and Yolanda Costner, two of the three statehouse staffers who have alleged they were sexually harassed and assaulted by Arnold over a three-year period.

Since August, the Arnold scandal has put the treatment of women in the legislature front and center.

What Does 'Equal Pay Day' Mean for Kentucky Women, Especially Minorities?

President Obama penned a pair of executive actions on Tuesday tied to "Equal Pay Day," acting on an especially important issue for Kentucky women of all races and ethnicities.

The wage rates along gender lines overall are telling.

In the Bluegrass state, women earn 24 cents less than their male counterparts despite their growth in the workforce over the past three decades.

With the Kentucky primary election six weeks away supporters of Republican Matt Bevin believe the tea party-backed challenger to Mitch McConnell still has a chance to pull off an upset. 

McConnell leads Bevin by double-digits in every poll and has brutalized his challenger in attack ads, calling him a "con man" and "fraud" in campaign materials.

Republican Matt Bevin is a Heaven-sent choice for Kentucky voters in the upcoming U.S. Senate primary election.

That's according to conservative radio show host Glenn Beck, who gave a rousing speech at a rally for conservative grassroots  activists over the weekend.

Beck was the keynote speaker at FreePAC Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.

The event that was organized by FreedomWorks and featured a number of tea party activists and candidates from across the country and state, including Bevin, who spoke on a variety of issues.

Republican donors are set to be the chief beneficiaries of a Supreme Court ruling that eliminates overall campaign contribution limits.

The justices sided with the plaintiff, Alabama businessman Shaun McCutcheon, in a 5-4 decision that ruled government regulations on aggregate donations violate a donor's free speech rights.

Republican Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was "extraordinarily helpful" in the Supreme Court case overturning overall campaign gift limits, according to the lead attorney for the plaintiff in the groundbreaking case, which is likely to pour even more money into U.S. elections.

In a 5-4 decision Wednesday, the high court found that government regulations on aggregate contributions violate the First Amendment rights of donors.

Matt Bevin TV Ad Puts Mitch McConnell in Duke Jersey Ahead of Louisville-Kentucky Matchup

Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin is launching a new TV ad Friday that clads incumbent Mitch McConnell in a Duke University jersey.

"March Madness in Kentucky: commitment, courage—you got to love it. Even if your team isn't in the tournament," says Bevin, referencing a McConnell campaign ad that mistakenly showed Duke's 2010 NCAA champion victory instead of Kentucky.
