Charts: Kentucky State Funding to Colleges Since 1999

Earlier this month, we presented a chart showing tuition increases at Kentucky state colleges since 1980. It led to a good deal of attention because, well, tuition had increased substantially since the Gov. John Y. Brown Jr. Administration.

Some wondered also about  the state legislature's funding provided to state universities and colleges. Here's what that looks  from 1999 to the current academic year:

Murray State University Has a New President

MURRAY — Murray State Board of Regents Chairman Deno Curris is optimistic about the working relationship the board will have with the university's next president.

The regents unanimously chose Eastern Oregon University President Bob Davies to be  MSU's 13th president on Wednesday.

Board relationships were at the heart of former President Randy Dunn’s dismissal last year. With that in mind, Curris says the board was intently focused on its relationship with MSU’s next president.

Kentucky Attorney General: Murray State Regents Violated Open Meetings Law

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says the Murray State Board of Regents violated Kentucky’s open meetings law when a quorum of the board attended a social gathering at the home of Regent Sharon Green on March 14.

Lexington Attorney Jim Deckard sought the opinion after board Chairman Constantine Curris, through an attorney, denied allegations of an illegal meeting.

Murray State President Responds to Controversy Over Open Meetings

MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State President Randy Dunn says he supports investigating the possibility that the school's board of regents violated the state's Open Meetings Law during a gathering the night before they voted not to renew his contract.

The Murray Ledger & Times reports Dunn's comments in the university's newsletter are the most detailed statements he has made since the board of regents' vote on March 15.
