UK's Julius Randle to Enter NBA Draft

University of Kentucky basketball player Julius Randle is leaving the Wildcats after one season to enter the NBA draft.

The 6-foot-9 forward is widely expected to be among the top five picks in the June 26 draft.

Randle led UK in scoring and rebounding during the Wildcats NCAA Tournament run, which ended with a loss to Connecticut in the title game.

UK's Julius Randle to Announce NBA Draft Decision Tuesday

The University of Kentucky basketball program will hold a news conference tomorrow afternoon  with freshman forward Julius Randle, who will announce whether he is entering the NBA draft or returning for another season.         

Sunday is the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft, and the 6-foot-9 Randle has been projected as a lottery pick if he turns pro.    He led the Wildcats in scoring and rebounding during their NCAA title quest.

WFPL Discusses: Should Louisville Try to Land an NBA Team?

Louisville Metro Councilman David Tandy says he’s open to the idea of luring a National Basketball Association team to town.

Tandy was among the guests who spoke on a WFPL news special today on the subject.

The 4th District councilman says he believes an NBA team could co-exist with the University of Louisville basketball teams in the KFC Yum Center, where U of L is now the primary tenant. He says city officials should do everything they can to maximize the financially-plagued arena’s economic potential and raise Louisville’s profile.

Six From UK Taken In NBA Draft; Davis, Kidd-Gilchrist Top Picks

All six members of the national champion University of Kentucky men’s basketball team who declared for the NBA draft were chosen last night, including four in the first round of 30 picks. 

It was the first time that six players from a college team were selected in a single draft.

UK had the top two overall picks;  Anthony Davis was chosen by the New Orleans Hornets and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was selected by the Charlotte Bobcats.
