Up to 3 Inches of Snow Possible in Louisville, National Weather Service Says

Louisville may get as many as three inches of snow overnight through Saturday, leading to travel difficulties.

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday. At first, rain will begin falling in the Louisville area on Friday afternoon, but the precipitation will change over to a rain/snow mix after sunset and then all snow around midnight, the National Weather Service said.

Winter Weather System Bringing Heavy Snow, Travel Delays to Region

Forecasters are keeping a close eye on a storm system moving through the region.  It's expected to bring heavy snow and other winter weather to sections of Kentucky and Indiana.

Blizzard warnings are in effect for parts of western Kentucky and southwestern Indiana, along with the southcentral Indiana counties of Dubois, Orange, Washington, Jefferson and Scott.

No Snow on Christmas for Louisville, but Maybe on Wednesday

Louisville looks to have a wet Christmas night -- and maybe snow on Wednesday.

Rain is expected to move into the Louisville area Tuesday evening, and the precipitation would stay until Wednesday evening, said Tom Reaugh, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service. The temperature will drop through Wednesday, which means the rain would transition to snowfall as the day goes on.
