UK's Aaron Harrison 'Not Afraid to Miss' Game-Winning Shots

The Kentucky Wildcats take on the Connecticut Huskies tonight for the men’s NCAA basketball championship.         

UK got by Wisconsin 74 to 73 Saturday night after Aaron Harrison put the Wildcats ahead with a long three-pointer with just under six seconds remaining.    It was Harrison’s third straight game-winning shot.

"The biggest thing is, he’s not afraid to miss.  He’s comfortable in his own skin, he knows how hard he’s worked," said Kentucky coach John Calipari.

Kentucky Wildcats Beat Wisconsin 74-73, Will Face UConn for NCAA Title

Aaron Harrison hit a 3-pointer with 5.7 seconds left, after taking a pass from his twin brother Andrew, and Kentucky beat Wisconsin 74-73 on Saturday night to advance to the national championship game.

The Harrison twins and all those Kentucky freshmen aren't one and done just yet.  

They will be playing for the Wildcats' ninth national championship Monday night in an unexpected title matchup.

NCAA: Kentucky Beats Louisville 74-69; Will Face Michigan for Final Four Berth

Aaron Harrison made a 3-pointer with 39 seconds left to give Kentucky the go-ahead points Friday night in a 74-69 victory in the men’s NCAA Midwest Regional over rival Louisville. Harrison, Julius Randle and Dakari Johnson, all finished with 15 points for the eighth-seeded Wildcats, who will play Michigan in Sunday's regional final.   

Fourth-seeded Louisville got 23 points from senior Russ Smith, who missed a late 3 with a chance to tie.

Work on a new Kentucky state budget is slowing in Frankfort—because of a a basketball game.

Interest in tonight's NCAA Tournament matchup between the Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats is the latest delaying factor in an already contentious day.

With only a handful of days left in the session, lawmakers are behind schedule on passing the only bill they’re required to: A $20.3 billion biennial budget.

Louisville Police Agencies Make Plans for Friday's Kentucky Wildcats-Louisville Cardinals Game

Louisville Metro Police and other agencies have made plans for addressing potential traffic and crime issues stemming from Friday night's NCAA Tournament showdown between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Louisville Cardinals.

Police have issued details of its details. They include "multiple roving units" meant to patrol  possible criminal activity following the game, plus traffic enforcement in case of cruising. Police plan to allow traffic to move through the areas they're concentrating on, unless a public safety risk is found.

NCAA: Louisville Sails to Second Round of Women's Tournament

Sara Hammond led five players in double figures with 16 points and third-seeded Louisville rolled past Idaho 88-42 on Sunday in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.

Jude Schimmel had 14 points and Asia Taylor scored 13 for the Cardinals (31-4), who'll face either Marist or host Iowa in the second round on Tuesday.

Louisville shook off a sluggish start with a 28-10 run late in the first half. The Cardinals then opened the second half with 23 points in eight minutes to push their lead to 63-30.

Louisville Cardinals Top Saint Louis to Reach Sweet 16

The Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team has reached the Sweet 16 for the third straight year.

The Cardinals, a four seed, defeated the Saint Louis Billikens 66-51 in their second game of the 2014 NCAA Tournament in Orlando, Fla.

Kentucky Wildcats Dominate Wright State in Women's NCAA Tournament

The Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball team made advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament look easy on Saturday.

The Wildcats crushed Wright State 106-60 in Lexington's Memorial Coliseum. Kentucky, a No. 3 seed, improved to 25-8 and next plays third-seed Syracuse or 11th-seed Chattanooga on Monday night.

ST LOUIS — Saint Louis University’s Billikens won their opening round matchup vs. North Carolina State in nail-biting fashion, crafting together a pair of second-half runs to defeat the Wolfpack in overtime, 83-80. A gritty effort down the stretch for the Billikens, now 27-6 on the year, was aided by the Wolfpack’s inability to put the game away at the free throw line, with NC State shooting 20-37 from the line; remarkably, victorious SLU shot even worse, at 12-26. Those misadventures at the stripe aside, the win was a huge one for the senior-laden Billikens, who stumbled late in Atlantic 10 conference play.

NCAA: Kentucky Defeats Kansas State, Will Face Unbeaten Wichita State Sunday

Julius Randle had 19 points and 15 rebounds, Aaron Harrison finished with 18 points and No. 8 seed Kentucky beat Kansas State 56-49 Friday night to earn a date with top-seeded Wichita State.

The preseason No. 1, Kentucky (25-10) is finally starting to live up to the expectations that came with its heralded recruiting class. John Calipari's bunch nearly knocked of Florida in the SEC title game last week and seemed to carry that momentum into the NCAA tournament.
