Mayor Greg Fischer on WFPL Thursday for a News Special

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer will join WFPL on Thursday for an hour-long news special.

Fischer will be asked about possible changes to the Metro Council members' discretionary spending, the Vision Louisville project, professional sports and more. He'll also discuss his bid for re-election in 2014.

WFPL News Is Making A TV Show

We know you like listening to WFPL News. We know you like reading WFPL News. So how would you feel about watching it? You'll soon know.

Our video series, Up Front with Jonathan Bastian, premieres Wednesday, September 4th. As the name implies, the show will be hosted by Jonathan Bastian, WFPL's Morning Edition host.  It will feature a variety of guests and thought-provoking conversations.

More News! WFPL's Midday Changes Begin July 1

As you may know, Talk of the Nation is ending on July 1st. In its place, NPR is working with WBUR in Boston on a two-hour version of Here and Now.

WFPL has aired Here and Now for two years at 1:00 on weekdays. Talk of the Nation currently airs from 2:00-4:00. The announcement that Talk of the Nation was going away left us with some choices for our middays. We've made some decisions, and we'd like your thoughts.

Remember a few weeks ago, when we asked local musicians to submit instrumental music for us to play in between stories, segments and shows on WFPL?

You responded. 

We had over 100 submissions. We've been digging through them for the last few weeks, and we have come up with a steady rotation of local music beds, which are now airing on WFPL. Tune in. You'll hear them throughout the day.

WFPL Airing Live Coverage of Memorial for Boston Marathon Bombing Victims

WFPL will air NPR's live coverage of the memorial for victims of Monday's bombing during the Boston Marathon.

People were lined up in Boston to attend the memorial early this morning, reports NPR member station WBUR.

Louisville Public Media Reaches $500,000 Goal for Spring Membership Campaign

Louisville Public Media has met its $500,000 goal for the Spring Membership Campaign.

The goal was reached as the campaign came to a close Saturday evening. The campaign began on Monday.

Louisville Public Media provides three public radio stations—WFPL 89.3, WFPK 91.9 and WUOL 90.5.

WFPL Wants (Needs?) Local Music for Station Breaks

Even Devin Katayama is writing music for WFPL.

Hey, Louisville. WFPL loves local music, and we want to feature more of it on air. No, we're not taking on our beloved sister station, WFPK. We're looking for fresh songs to play in between news segments and shows throughout the day.

You know the music we use. You've been hearing it for years. It's the acoustic guitar riff that plays right after Ira Glass signs off, or that synth-and-drums number you hear underneath the credits on Sunday afternoons.

WFPL to Go Off Air Briefly Sunday Night for Technical Work

WFPL will go off the air briefly Sunday night for technical maintenance.

The outage will happen sometime after 11 p.m. Sunday. The station should return to the airwaves long before the morning commute.
