Ricky Skaggs and More Play Bluegrass Concert to Benefit Parklands of Floyds Fork

The Parklands of Floyds Fork system is still under construction, but the two northernmost parks - Beckley Creek Park and Pope Lick Park - are open. On Friday, Beckley Creek Park will host the Creekside Jam concert, the Parklands' first ticketed concert featuring acclaimed Bluegrass musicians Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, "newgrass" pioneer Sam Bush, and Rhonda Vincent and the Rage.

Parklands of Floyds Fork to Unveil 677 New Acres Next Weekend

The Parklands at Floyds Fork will more than double in size next weekend. The park will hold events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to commemorate the opening of 677 acres of new public space in southeastern Jefferson County.

Final Construction Phase Begins for Parklands of Floyds Fork

Work is underway to incorporate 2,400 acres in southeastern Jefferson County into the Parklands of Floyds Fork project along the Floyds Fork watershed.

The start of the fourth and final phase was commemorated Wednesday by the project’s developer, 21st Century Parks and by several Louisville leaders, including Mayor Greg Fischer and Humana founder David Jones Sr., who helped launch and raise money for  the project.

The final phase focuses on Turkey Run and Broad Run parks.

Parklands Project Steadily Moving Forward

The developers of a 4,000 acre public parks system along the Floyds Fork watershed in eastern and southeastern Louisville say the project is on schedule for completion in 2015.

The Parklands of Floyds Fork is being opened in phases. Earlier this month, several amenities were made available to the public in Beckley Creek Park, one of four parks in the system. They include hiking and biking trails and a fishing pier.

Two indoor projects--an education center and a meeting facility---will be finished in February.

Work Begins On Third Phase of Parklands Project

Construction has begun on another phase of the Parklands of Floyds Fork, the nearly 4,000 acre park system under development in eastern and southeastern Louisville.

Ground was broken today on a section that will include a half-mile, tree-lined walk called the Humana Grand Allee .   It’s being funded with an $8 million donation from Humana and its employees.

The Parklands’ Scott Martin says this is the third of the project’s four major phases along the Floyds Fork watershed.
