Indiana GOP State Senator Sanctioned After Criticism of Gay Marriage Vote

The top Republicans in the Indiana Senate have removed a conservative senator from leadership positions in the wake of an intraparty fight over amending the state's constitution to ban gay marriage.

Senate President Pro Tem David Long and other members of his leadership team told Sen. Mike Delph that he would lose his ranking within the GOP caucus, his seat in the Senate chamber among other Republicans and his press secretary.     Delph will now sit among the Senate Democrats.

Lawmaker Withdraws Indiana Tort Bill Pushed by Pence

A tort reform measure from Indiana Gov. Mike Pence's first-year agenda has gone down in defeat amid opposition in a key Senate committee.

Republican Sen. Mike Delph said today he was withdrawing the proposal that would make the losers of lawsuits pay all legal fees because it was unlikely to pass the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The measure sparked controversy when it was first submitted earlier this month. Pence didn't include the proposal in his campaign "roadmap" and has declined to comment on it in multiple interviews.

Lawmaker Calls For Full Disclosure of Indiana Job Creation Numbers

A state lawmaker wants the Indiana Economic Development Corp. to let the public know how many jobs it actually helps create.

Republican Senator Mike Delph says he will introduce the legislation because he believes the public is being intentionally misled.

A yearlong study conducted by WTHR-TV showed as many as 40 percent of the more than 100,000 jobs promoted by Governor Mitch Daniels and agency officials from 2005 to 2010 never materialized. But the IEDC won't disclose which companies have not met their job commitments.
