McConnell, Yarmuth Mark D-Day Anniversary

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Ky., are celebrating the 68th anniversary of the D-Day invasion by meeting with World War II veterans.

For historians, D-Day marks the turning point against Nazi Germany when Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy in France. Over 3,000 U.S. service members were killed on the day of the invasion.

McConnell Camp Sets Forceful Tone in First Web Ad

The campaign to re-elect Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has released a strong web ad praising the Republican lawmaker for standing up against President Obama for the past four years.

The 3 minute video is entitled "Refuse to be Defeated", and documents McConnell's opposition to the president's agenda in a positive light. It begins with Mr. Obama's acceptance speech and finds several clips praising McConnell for blocking key legislation in the Senate.

Mourdock Pledges to Stand Up Against McConnell

Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock has pledged to join a group of conservatives to either overthrow or challenge Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., if he wins in November.

The Indiana state treasurer is backed by the tea party and is challenging six-term incumbent Dick Lugar in today's closely watched GOP primary. Political observers expect Mourdock to win the race and go on to face Democratic Congressman Joe Donnelly in the general election.

McConnell Declines Obama Invite to Celebrate Kentucky Wildcats

McConnell Highlights Tough Job Market for College Graduates

In a push to younger voters, President Barack Obama is touring college campuses this week to discuss the problems of student loan debt. But Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is blaming the president for the poor job market that college graduates enter.

Interest rates for subsidized Stafford Loans are set to double this summer, going from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent. The White House projects more than 7.5 million students will face steeper debt if lawmakers don't act to freeze the interest rate. Mr. Obama says that should be a higher priority than protecting tax breaks for wealthy Americans.

But in a Senate floor speech, McConnell says the president is too busy pointing fingers and not taking responsibility for the poor economy that students face. "It’s the millionaires. It’s the banks. It’s big oil. It’s the weather. It’s Fox News. It’s anything but him. And it’s absurd. I mean, if you believe that a president who got everything he wanted for two years—two whole years—has nothing to do with the problems we face, then I’ve got a solar panel company to sell you," he says.
