U of L, Norton Healthcare Officials Call Meeting on Kosair Children's Hospital 'Constructive'

Norton Healthcare officials say a meeting with University of Louisville leaders this week was "constructive" and the two sides plan to meet again soon.

U of L criticized Norton for entering into a partnership with UK Healthcare for the use of Louisville’s Kosair Children’s Hospital, which Norton owns. The hospital sits on state-owned land and under state rules must benefit U of L and Kentucky citizens.

Norton Healthcare, University of Louisville Trade Barbs Over Kosair Children's Hospital Plan

Updated: Norton Healthcare officials have responded to allegations that they're breaching a land-lease agreement by partnering with UK Healthcare.

Last week, Norton and UK officials announced the intent to jointly run Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville to improve pediatric care in the state. The University of Louisville is also a partner there and U of L officials say they've been trying to create a long-term agreement with Norton for the past several years.

University of Louisville Blasts Planned Collaboration Between Children's Hospitals

The University of Louisville is blasting a plan for Kosair Children's Hospital and the Kentucky Children's Hospital in Lexington to "join forces."

Kosair Children's—run by Norton Healthcare—and the UK HealthCare-operated Kentucky Children's Hospital announced late Thursday that their leaders had signed a letter of intent to be jointly operated but remain independent through a new collaboration.
