The American Civil Liberties Union has decided to go directly to the source of its unhappiness with the way women are treated in Catholic hospitals. It's suing the nation's Catholic bishops.

U of L Hospital to Pay $2.8 Million to Settle Medicare Billing Case

University of Louisville Hospital has reached a $2.8 million settlement with the federal government to end allegations that it submitted false Medicare billing claims.

The agreement, announced today, covers a five-year period that began January 1, 2006.

U of L Medical Center Taking More Time to Find Partner

The University of Louisville Medical Center is going to take more time searching for a new business partner.

The UMC put out a request for proposals for a new partner earlier this year, with a goal to finish the deal by the end of this month. But today (Thursday), officials released a statement saying they need more time. They stress that talks have been productive, but say it may take until the end of the year to secure a deal.

Audit Finds Insufficient Oversight of Indigent Care Fund

An audit of the taxpayer funded trust that helps pay for indigent care at University of Hospital has found that the trust lacks sufficient oversight.

The review of the Quality and Charity Care Trust by State Auditor Adam Edelen released today also found weaknesses in the structure of the QCCT board.

Edelen says the audit found no misuse of funds. The trust receives more than $30 million in state and city money each year for indigent care.
