June Trial Date Set for Former U of L Official Charged With Stealing $2.8 Million

A June 3 trial date has been set for the former executive director of University of Louisville's Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine.

Perry Chadwick Vaughn is accused of stealing $2.8 million in patient payments and other funds over a six-year period.

The 36 year old Vaughn was indicted by a federal grand jury in Louisville on Wednesday. He also is accused of failing to report $2.4 million in income and laundering money through luxury vehicles, real estate, luxury vacations and a $9,000 necklace.

South Florida Pulls Coaching Job Offer to Steve Masiello Over UK Degree Discrepancy

A deal by the University of South Florida to hire Steve Masiello as its new basketball coach has fallen apart because the former Kentucky player and U of L assistant doesn't have a college degree.

South Florida officials confirmed Wednesday that they had an agreement in principle to lure Masiello away from Manhattan, but that the contract was contingent on "a verification of credentials."

The University of Kentucky's athletics department sent Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell's re-election campaign a cease and desist letter for using an image of a standout men's basketball player in a campaign video.

McConnell's team was under fire for most of Tuesday after mistakenly using footage of Duke University's 2010 NCAA championship victory when highlighting the state's basketball dominance.

Former Louisville Cardinals Star Darrell Griffith Joining College Basketball Hall of Fame

Former University of Louisville star Darrell Griffith is among the headliners of the latest College Basketball Hall of Fame class.

Griffith joins Shaquille O'Neal and Grant Hill in this year's inductions.

Griffith helped Louisville win its first national title in 1980 during his senior season. He'd go on to have a 10-year career in the NBA with the Utah Jazz. Before UofL, Griffith was a star player for Male High School; he still lives in Louisville and works with UofL.

After weak demand on campus, the University of Louisville is opening up its car share program to the public.

Car share programs already exist—and thrive—in cities around the country. The way they usually work is people pay a nominal fee to become members, and then pay an hourly fee to rent a car.

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the body that issues accreditation to medical education programs in the United States and Canada, has expressed concern in nine areas of UofL’s Medical School.

Feminist Artist Judy Chicago Gifts International Honor Quilt to University of Louisville

The International Honor Quilt, a large collection of small quilts honoring women from all over the world, joins the university's collection today. The quilts, with their documentation, will be available for study, research and exhibition.

UofL Partners With National Digital Manufacturing Initiative

The University of Louisville's Speed Engineering School will collaborate with other institutions, government agencies and businesses in an initiative to boost digital design and manufacturing processes nationwide.

The announcement comes today as President Obama awarded $70 million of Department of Defense funding to the program.

In addition to the $70 million from the federal government, nearly $250 million was raised by public and private entities to ensure the institute would be based in Chicago.
