Art Exhibit Honors 'The Greatest' at Ali Center

A new art exhibit honoring Muhammad Ali is open at The Muhammad Ali Center. “Ali: the Greatest” is a fine art tribute curated by Evolve The Gallery in Sacramento, Calif. Gallery co-owners Brady and A. Michelle Blakeley challenged 19 artists from across the country to create works inspired by the boxing legend.

Though the artists all share the same subject, their work is anything but uniform.

Artebella Connects Louisville Artists with Collectors, the World

The city’s profile as an art destination has risen over the last few years, landing Louisville on superlative lists like AmericanStyle magazine’s best cities for art. Now the Louisville Visual Art Association is putting individual artists in the spotlight with Artebella Daily, a website and email campaign featuring a different local artist every weekday.

Visually Impaired Artists Exhibit Opens

A juried art show featuring visually impaired artists opens Thursday at the Galt House Hotel. Sponsored by the American Printing House for the Blind, APH Insights 2012  features 82 works (out of more than 400 submitted) by artists from across the country, ranging from professional artists to senior citizens and students.

A variety of media, including painting, sculpture and photography, is represented. Winners in nine categories have been selected by a panel of Louisville judges to be honored in a ceremony Friday. Artists will greet visitors Friday 4:15-5 p.m.

It’s fine to hit the downtown First Friday Trolley Hop without a plan. Park, wander in and out of galleries, grab a drink or dinner with friends and hop a TARC trolley from one end of downtown to the next and back—you’re sure to find something to catch your eye or ears.
