At Least 6 Dead in Texas Tornado

GRANBURY, Texas — Officials say at least six people were killed when a spring tornado outbreak devastated parts of North Texas, destroying or damaging dozens of homes and injuring dozens of people.

The worst-hit city Wednesday was Granbury, where authorities say the fatalities occurred as the deadly tornado tore through two neighborhoods. Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds delivered the death toll at a midnight news conference and said dozens were injured.

Overnight Snow May Not Stick to Roads. Morning Commute May be Awful, Anyway.

Above-freezing daytime temperatures Tuesday may keep Louisville roads from being blanketed in snow before the Wednesday morning commute—but driving issues are still possible.

Metro Louisville is expected to get as much as four inches of snow by Wednesday afternoon, the weather service said. Rain will become snow in the late evening and continue through Wednesday morning.

Louisville and surround areas are under a winter weather advisory from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Freezing Rain Possible Thursday Evening in Louisville

Louisville motorists should be cautious Thursday evening of slick roads as the temperature drops and anticipated rainfall turns into freezing rain, the National Weather Service said.

The most likely times for freezing rain are after the evening commute hours through midnight, after which temperatures are expected to rise above freezing, said Mike Callahan, hydrologist for the National Weather Service in Louisville. 

"I think we'll get through the rush hour OK," Callahan said on Thursday morning.

Strong Southerly Wind Gusts Expected for Monday; Wind Advisory Issued

Strong wind gusts are expected Monday in the Louisville area, leading the National Weather Service to caution motorists driving high-profile vehicles on west-east roadways such as Interstate 64.

The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for Jefferson County and surround counties in Kentucky and Indiana. It goes into effect at 10 a.m. Monday and expires at 10 p.m.
