Today Is Poem in Your Pocket Day

National Poetry Month is winding down, but  there will be time yet to share your favorite poems with family, friends and strangers on the bus. The Academy of American Poets designates April 26 as Poem in Your Pocket Day. There’s not much to it: print out a poem and go. Yesterday’s Morning Edition reported on what some poetry lovers are doing to share their favorite poems. On Twitter, Louisville poetry fans are using  #poempocketlou to share their pocket poems. There’s  an anthology of removable pocket-sized poems available, but for last-minute poetry lovers, the  Academy offers a wide selection of beloved poems that are easy to print, cut in half for sharing, and fit inside a pocket. If all you can fit in your pocket is a phone, you can still keep a poem in your pocket with the Academy of American Poets mobile site, containing the online library of more than 2,500 poems.
