Tuition, fees, and on-campus housing rates are on the rise at the University of Kentucky.
In-state students at UK will see tuition and fees increase by 3 percent beginning next academic year. Out-of-state students will pay 6 percent more. President Eli Capilouto characterized the increase as ‘modest,’ noting that it’s the lowest annual percentage increase at UK since 1997. “It was a commitment we made when we went through our budget planning beginning twelve months ago. We thought the principle of access and affordability should be respected," he said.For in-state undergraduate students, tuition will be nearly $10,000 a year beginning next fall, up $290 from the current academic year.“Our students at the University of Kentucky, half of whom leave with no debt, and those who do have debt, they’re at reasonable amounts. So I feel like we’re offering an incredible value for the price," Capilouto said.The proposal must be still be approved by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.
