Watch | Neighborhood Leader Confronts LMPD, David James on Victory Park Crackdown

Louisville Metro Councilman David James announced on Wednesday a crime crackdown in and around Victory Park in west Louisville. As WFPL's Phillip Bailey reported, Louisville Metro Police were using support from James to tackle issues including drugs, firearms and gambling. The councilman was providing $11,000 in neighborhood discretionary funds to pay the overtime costs for officers in the area. This wasn't welcome news for everyone near Victory Park.California neighborhood leader Mike Ballard confronted James and LMPD about the plan. Ballard was concerned that officer patrolling the area will not distinguish between law-abiding residents and criminals. The exchange was at point as other residents and police officers stood by, and at one point James and Ballard admitted that they don't trust each other.Bailey witnessed a part of the exchange and shot the video posted below. "I'm telling the councilman, I'm telling the major in front of all these officers—I do not want to talk to no officers, period, about nothing. If I break a law I should be arrested, if I'm not breaking no laws ... I want my rights respected," Ballard says.
