The winter weather has given Louisville students a long weekend. Jefferson County Public Schools will be closed Friday. District officials made the call at 4:45 this morning. Jefferson County Catholic elementary and high schools are also closed. The high temperature Friday in Louisville is expected to be only 20 degrees—and wind chills along and north of Interstate 64 are expected to be below zero through the morning, the National Weather Service said. Snow and ice from Thursday night's snowfall remain on secondary roads and side streets, and the cold temperatures are expected to make treating major thoroughfares difficult. In other words, any road may have slick spots, the weather service said. You can check traffic conditions on Louisville area interstates here.Numerous accidents have been reported on side streets overnight. City streets were salted in advance of the snow, but many remain slick. The University of Louisville is on a two-hour delay, opening at 10 a.m., but UofL Physicians clinical ad administrative and patients are urged to call ahead.
