Kentucky National Guard troops are on duty in Louisville as the city recovers fromSunday's fierce winds produced by the remnants of Hurricane Ike that left widespreadpower outages.Louisville Gas and Electric Company spokesperson Chip Keeling says crews aremaking progress in restoring service. As of 10:00am Tuesday, about 189,000customers still had outages. Power is back on for 112,000 customers.Keeling says there are now 1,100 line workers on the ground in the Louisville area."We're looking good at this point, but we're still in a very early stage of restoration.We're still saying 10 to 14 days (before all service is restored)," Keeling said.Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson says more than 100 National Guard troops havebeen activated to help with clearing debris and directing traffic.
