Activists Hold Vigil On Torture

By Andy FreudenburgSome local groups held a vigil in downtown Louisville Wednesday to mark International Torture Abolition Month.Among the participants was Marcy Allman, a member of the Louisville Abolition Project.“I’m going to be sitting blind folded in silence, in a silent time of pray and support for the people that have been touched in this way," she said.                 Allman says the groups will also host a film screening and discussion Thursday, exploring questions such as whether there are ever any circumstances that can justify torture. They’ll also talk about U.S. policy on torture. The event will be held at 7:00pm at the Ursuline Campus on Lexington Road.
