Kevin E. Moore Named Managing Director Of Actors Theatre

Kevin Allen

Kevin E. Moore will join Actors Theatre of Louisville as managing director this summer, in advance of the Tony Award-winning theater’s 53rd season. The appointment was announced Wednesday.

Moore, who for the past six years has been the managing director of Theatre Communications Group in New York City, will replace Jennifer Bielstein. After 10 years, Bielstein stepped down in March to become managing director of the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The extensive national search for a managing director was one of only two during the theater's history.

In a news release sent out Wednesday, Artistic Director Les Waters said, “I’m thrilled that Kevin E. Moore will be joining me and our dedicated team at Actors Theatre here in Louisville. Kevin not only has a passion for new plays but an understanding that theater needs to belong to the community in which it lives.”

Moore has more than 25 years of experience in performing arts administration and has proven himself a strong proponent of the American theater. While at the Theatre Communications Group, Moore was responsible for managing the business side -- including human relations, finance and fundraising. Prior to that, he spent 10 years at Arizona Theatre Company in various capacities, starting as marketing director and eventually becoming managing director.

“I have long admired Actors Theatre of Louisville for balancing a deep commitment to its local community with a transformative vision for the new play sector and theater field,” said Moore in the release. “I look forward to bringing the national networks I developed during my tenure at TCG in support of that vision, and to partnering with Les and the exceptional Actors Theatre board and staff.”
