Industries in Louisville will be facing marginally higher fees from the Air Pollution Control District in the coming year. The board voted today to approve the higher rates.Following a scheduled public meeting where no one spoke, the district's board unanimously approved the changes. The fees will be higher in fiscal year 2012—which began on July 1—but only marginally so. The new rates reflect the change in the Consumer Price Index, and it means that industries will pay 80 cents more per ton of pollution. The costs of construction permits and minor source permits will also be raised slightly. For facilities regulated under Louisville’s Strategic Toxic Air Reduction program, the board voted to bring the district’s fees into line with changes previously approved in the program’s restructuring.
